As the crowds around Jesus were growing, increasingly they demand a sign from heaven, in addition to all that Jesus said and did. No such sign would be given, Jesus said. Nineveh had repented at the preaching of Jonah. The Queen of Sheeba had traveled far to learn from Solomon. Jesus was greater than either of these. Only an evil generation would respond to Jesus by asking for a sign.
