This passage (John 18:7-18) describes how Peter sought to defend Jesus with his sword and, then, following his arrest in the garden, how Jesus was first brought before Annas, where Peter and another disciple followed him. Because this other disciple was known to the high priest, he and Peter were able to enter the court of the high priest, where Jesus was held. There, according to John’s recollection, Peter denied Jesus for the first time.
