In this well known and much loved story, Jesus enters Jericho and sees the chief tax collector, Zacchaeus, perched on a tree branch. Jesus calls him down and Zacchaeus receives Jesus with joy into his home. Zacchaeus tells Jesus that he gives half of his income to the poor and if he defrauds anyone, he restores it fourfold. Was Zacchaeus this way before Jesus arrived?
