Luke waits until Chapter 5 to describe Jesus’ calling of his first disciples. Because he has already shown us how the masses of men responded to Jesus, first in Nazareth and then in Capernaum, I think we can more easily appreciate how unique was the response of the disciples. Because we have no reason to believe that the disciples themselves were unique in any way, we can understand that their response was a work of the Holy Spirit.
