This completes the story of Jesus’ violent rejection by the synagogue in his home town of Nazareth. “No prophet,” Jesus said, “is acceptable in his home town.” We may wonder why, instead of merely ignoring him, his fellow townsmen were moved to a murderous rage, and we may wonder this again near the end of his career on earth, as he is nailed to the cross.
